I am etc. to request you to inform the

Army Council that a despatch has been received

that

from the Governor of Hong Kong, reporting that

he has approved of Captain (Local Lieutenant-

Colonel) R. C. B. Anderson, M.C., The Argyll and

Sutherland Highlanders, relinquishing his

appointment as Commandant, Hong Kong Volunteer

Defence Corps, and proceeding home on such leave

as may be due to him about the end of July, 1938.

The Governor states that it is

desirable that Captain Anderson's successor

should arrive in the Colony by the beginning of

August, 1938, in order to become accustomed to

his duties before the annual training period

begins on the 1st of September. The Secretary

of State would, therefore, be obliged if the

Council would be so good as to recommend suitable

candidates
